Accessible Space

In the intricate tapestry of human existence, spaces serve as the stages upon which our lives unfold. Yet, gaining entry to these spaces remains a formidable challenge due to cost constraints.

Throughout my career as a licensed marriage family therapist, business executive, community builder and non-profiteer, I have specialized in and become quite effective at creating accessible spaces for individuals, groups, organizations and businesses.

For the past 25 years I have been committed to not only making sure these spaces exist, but that they are accessible to everyone who wants them.

The Value of Accessible Space

Accessible space holds immense value. It’s the conduit through which communities flourish, ideas thrive, and relationships deepen. However, access to such spaces is often constrained by financial barriers, rendering them out of reach for many.

While digital spaces excel in accessibility and connectivity across boundaries, physical spaces offer richness in interpersonal interactions and tangible experiences. Both play integral roles in community building, each complementing the other to create vibrant, inclusive, and resilient communities.

Importance of Access to Space

Access to space is crucial for individuals and groups to meet organize, meet and further their own goals and objectives. Without accessible spaces, communities struggle to come together share ideas and collaborate effectively. Without accessible spaces, individuals will continue to struggle in creating opportunities to thrive.

The true cost of inaccessible space is evident in the opportunities denied to those unable to afford it. Whether it’s a community center where we can meet or gather; reliable places to work and create, or a therapy session, the inability to access these spaces perpetuates cycles of exclusion and inequality.

Collaborative Strategies as a Professional Philosophy

I think you can reach just about any objective or goal if you use collaboration.

Working collaboratively is a powerful and transforming process that delivers real and concrete benefits.  One of the biggest obstacles to realizing the rewards of collaboration is rooted in understanding its core principles and concepts.

Collaboration is a type partnership and a form of teamwork but being on a team or in a partnership does not necessarily mean you are using collaborative principals.

Collaboration’s guiding principle is the acceptance that no individual has all the answers related to any given challenge, issue, need or possible solution. In fact a true understanding can only be achieved by combining everyone’s differing perspective.

It is through this collective exploration that we are able to grasp the true scope and breadth of an issue and begin to formulate effective, real and practical strategies and solutions.

As we build a collaborative container or frame for the work we do, we have the capacity to better focus more on process and less on personality.

By embracing collaboration as a guiding philosophy, individuals and organizations can harness the collective wisdom and creativity of diverse stakeholders to drive meaningful change and achieve shared objectives.
